Where are my texts publishing?
-
I am putting together a new blog, using the theme Parament. On this blog, I have 5 pages (Home, About, travel, Other Writing, Contact). I am trying to make subpages under the Travel page, to categorize what I will print there by destination. I have followed all the online instructions multiple times. Simply, my “published” texts are not showing up anywhere.
I have tried writing posts, which WP says are “published”, but they are not found under any page on my site. With the subpages, the exact same thing is happening. I have selected “Travel” as the “parent” page, etc…but nothing. Every page has one box of text/picture and one only.
Where is my new text going and why can’t I get it to show on the pages? Thank you.

You have created a custom menu. When you add new pages, you need to also add them to your custom menu. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

Thank you, though I have not had a response to this email I sent in reply:
Thank you. That explains why the sub-pages weren’t showing up, BUT it doesn’t explain where the posts are going. When I write a post, it does not show up on the menu interface, so it is not an option to manually drag them under the parent page. Nor are there placement option to tick on the post-editing interface. So I still cannot fine the posts published anywhere.
Further assistance with the POSTS would be much appreciated.

Posts cannot be added to the menu, unless you inset them as Custom Links.
Posts are published to the page that you assign them to at Settings -> Reading in your blog’s Dashboard.

OK. So I see how to do that now, but when I select a page (on which to publish my posts), ALL my my page and sub-page texts then publish there. (As if they were posts.)
I suppose the confusion is coming somewhere in the behavior of page text vs post text. But it seems like Parament that is not being consistent. (Probably not true, but it’s been seen that way just now.)
What I WANT is:
The Home/Front page to have text X (we’ll call it) “stickied” to the top. Below X, daily posts will publish like normal. Other PAGES just have static info on them (Contact, Photos, etc). When I make a page, the editing window looks the same as when I’m making a post – I type Text X and it prints on the page. Posts, on the other hand, don’t publish anywhere unless I specifically tell which page to put them. But suddenly, when I do that, Parament gets all weird. It hides text for that page and instead prints texts from OTHER pages – as if they were posts – which they’re not.

You have a static front page causing the trouble.
At Settings -> Reading in your blog’s Dashboard, select “Your latest posts” for “Front page displays.”

Thank you.
So it seems that I don’t need an actual “Home” page in the custom menu. I can just make that photo a sticky post and that + other posts will come up automatically as the *implied* “home” page when the website is opened.
Just to complete my understanding to how to work this thing – one last follow-up!
What if I wanted to have my posts publish on a particular page in the menu – but also have a static front page (that does not contain my posts). Is that even possible then?
So: If I want the blog to open up to a photo, and one has to make a menu selection to get to the posts.

Oh wait – I figured it out. Now the first steps above do what I want, not that I understand I don’t need specified “home” page in the menu. Thank you!
