Where are the color palettes in the Colinear theme?
-
Hi all…
I’m trying to work with the Colinear theme and I would like to use the Black color scheme shown in the theme description. However I do not get the palette selection shown, I only get the ability to select two basic colors.
The color palettes are supposed to be part of the free package. Anyone any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Hi there,
The site vcradio.org appears to be a self-hosted WordPress (also called “.org”) site hosted on Dreamhost, and not a site hosted on our WordPress.com service.
You can confirm here: https://gwhois.org/vcradio.org+dns
To clarify, WordPress.com and WordPress.org (the version of the platform that Dreamhost uses) are two different entities, but the essential difference is that we add some features to WordPress.com sites that do not exist on self-hosted .org sites.
In this case the color swatches you are referring to are only to be found on WordPress.com sites, but there is not a way to add that functionality to a WordPress site hosted elsewhere.
If you wish you can migrate your site to be hosted here on WordPress.com and then if you activate the Colinear theme here, you will see the color options for the WordPress.com version of the theme as mentioned here: https://wordpress.com/theme/colinear
Hope this helps!

Hi there…
Thanks for the helpful answer. I didn’t realise that the additional features were only available if you hosted in a certain way (you are essentially correct about the hosting though only the domain is hosted with Dreamhost).
I read:
“Is the default color scheme not your style? We’ve included a few free featured color palettes to inspire you — or choose your own colors with the WordPress.com Premium or Business plan”
…and took it to mean that the “few free featured color palettes” with the palettes beneath labeled “featured” were the ones that were free, while the ability to determine your own color scheme required a wordpress.com plan. Nothing indicates the limitations to hosting that you have helpfully provided.
If it wasn’t such an old theme I would suggest that a note to the above effect would be helpful, but as it is, never mind!
I used instead a paid third-party theme from a provider I’ve used before and it seems to be working fine.
Thanks again for clearing up my query. Makes total sense to have extra perks for paying customers!
