Where can I best host a WordPress as part of Node.js (Express) site?

    Hi WordPress-Team,

I have an existing website that uses Express (Node.js) and Prismic as a CMS (www.blackearthangling.com). I would like to add a WordPress blog to it and have some questions regarding optimal setup.

    Self-hosted or WordPress.com?
I have heard that self-hosting a WP blog as part of one’s own site increases the SEO power—is that accurate? If so, is it possible for me to include a self-hosted website in the tech stack I have, i.e., is it compatable to run with a Node.js app? Ideally, the URL structure would be something like: http://www.blackearthanging.com/blog/article-123

    Running WordPress.com under existing domain
In the event that it’s not possible to self-host, how do I best go about hosting a blog from WordPress.com on an existing domain, i.e., blog.blackearthangling.com? The current site domain is managed via GoDaddy. Does this setup have any negative impact in comparison to self-hosting, i.e., does Google still index articles etc. as part of the main domain/ranking?

I would love to use WordPress in some shape or form but am confused on how best to proceed. I would be very appreciative of any help from a real human.

    Cheers,
    Patrick Kornetzke

  • Hi Patrick –

No, this is not true. There’s a few things to consider. Our managed environment on WordPress.com has built in SEO tools. If you’re running a stand alone WordPress installation then you have to manage your SEO on a much more granular level and you don’t have a team to lean on for help and answer questions when they come up. Here on WordPress.com it will just work.

Additionally, you can use WordPress plugins or third party themes now on our business plan. That change happened a few years ago when we built that new level of integration. We have worked to bridge the gap for folks between running their own setup and enjoying the stability and safety of our managed environment. This might be the right option for your project.

Our hosting plans would allow you to connect the domain at no additional fee. This also includes your SSL for the domain.

If you already own a domain name with another provider, you can use that domain with your WordPress.com site. Once you complete the steps below, instead of your site address being something like yourgroovysite.wordpress.com, your site’s address will be something like yourgroovydomain.com. Follow the steps in this guide to keep your domain registered with your current provider and use it to show
