Where can I find IP-adresses to add to my nameservers?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
I want to ask something about mapping an existing domain to wordpress. If I want to change my nameservers into NS1.WORDPRESS.COM, NS2.WORDPRESS.COM and NS3.WORDPRESS.COM, I also must add IP-adresses (that’s what my registrar tells me). What are the IP-adresses I need to fill in? Or how or where can I find them?
It’s the first time I’m doing something like this, and I don’t really understand it yet…

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi Maaike,

Hmm, you should only need the name servers. Some registrars won’t let you change them and want IP addresses instead, but you only need one or the other. Is your registrar asking that you create A records to point to our IP addresses instead of changing your name servers?

    Hi Eurello,

Thanks for your answer. My registrar is asking for nameservers AND IP-adresses. I cannot change the nameservers unless I fill in the IP-adresses.
The helpdesk of my registrar suggested that when wordpress won’t give me IP-adresses, that I can find them myself. But I really don’t know how to do that.
    Any more suggestions?

  • Hi Maaike,

That’s odd. You should only need one or the other, but you can try these:

    76.74.254.120
    72.233.69.6
    72.233.2.58
    66.155.9.238
    76.74.254.123
    66.155.11.238

Our IPs change over time, which is why we don’t recommend using them for mapping purposes. If your registrar is going to create A records to point to them, please tell them to create at least two, pointing to different IP addresses from that list.

Let me know if you still have trouble!
