Where can I find more details on the "etiquette" of following?
-
Do readers following my blog receive notice every time I make an adjustment or correction to an existing post? I’d like to keep editing, when I feel the need, but would prefer not to bother readers w/ every tiny adjustment. Are all the followers listed still following the blog? In other words, have those who may have asked to be removed from distribution, also, been removed from the list? Is email contact w/ followers considered spam? If so, what’s a better way to thank regular readers? All input welcome. Thanks very much!

Hi Anna,

No, they only receive an email when you first publish the post.

If someone unsubscribes from your blog, they should no longer be listed in your subscriber list. Note that someone can follow you by email, or just in the WordPress.com Reader.
Is email contact w/ followers considered spam? If so, what’s a better way to thank regular readers?
Good question. This just kind of depends on you and your relationship with your followers, but in my experience, most people do not like to receive emails they didn’t sign up for. A better option might be to publish a post thanking them, which they’ll then receive however they normally receive your posts. :)
You could also create a contact form and let your readers know that if they opt in through the contact form, you’ll send them occasional personal emails:
Contact FormThat way, they can sign up if they’d like that, and not if they don’t.
Let me know if you have further questions!
