Where can I find the footer.php file for twenty ten? Can I edit it?
-
I’ve searched for this many times off and on over the last few weeks. I need some assistance. Thanks.
I am using the twenty ten theme. I want to remove the site’s title “Mindy Ogg” in the footer and change the color of the black line there.
Where do I find the footer.php file? I went into my Safari Browser “Developer”, “Show Web Inspector” and I see no file with this name.
I was able to edit the header area with css so I’m fine there.
So please, if you have any suggestions, I’d appreciate it.
Please do not close this post until I know I can get it to work. Thanks and have a great day.

Hi there. We don’t have FTP access on WordPress.com and can’t edit the php files. http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
The only way to make changes to your site’s footer is by adding custom CSS to your theme via the Customizer. You will need the Custom Design upgrade to do that.
You can post your question in the CSS customisation forum for info on what code will be needed to make this change:

No need to repost in the other forum as I can help here. :)
I want to remove the site’s title “Mindy Ogg” in the footer and change the color of the black line there.
To remove “Mindy Ogg” in the footer, add this to your custom CSS:
#colophon #site-info { display: none; }To change the colour of the line:
#colophon { border-top: 4px solid #bb00bb; padding: 18px 0; }Change the colour code to whatever you like.
Let me know how it goes!

Thanks so much, kathrynwp for the code. I certainly do appreciate it. My work on my site is now complete.

One last thing before this is closed, is there a way for me to view the footer.php so that I know what code I need to change when I want to change it? Thanks!

I recommend using a browser inspector to view the page’s HTML and find out which elements you need to target with your custom CSS. Here are some guides to help you to just that:
