Where do I find Style.CSS file?

    Hi all!

I just started out with building a first draft of my website and bought the Premium Plan so that I can practice a bit with CSS editing before publishing anything. I’ve seen a few tutorials, it all looks pretty straightforward so I’m ready to go, only facing one problem: I cannot seem to find the style.css file, in which I can edit the code.

All the online tutorials direct me to Appearance – Editor, but that does not show up in my menu. I can click on Customizer but this only shows me an empty code screen with a placeholder text that directs me to more WordPress Tutorials.

Where should I go to get the file so I can edit?

    Thanks!
    Sharon

I’ve read some more and am starting to think this is not available to my version & plan… Am now trying to edit something (just anything really to try out) through customizer but no luck there yet…

    Hey there,

You are correct, the Custom CSS feature is only available to Premium and Business plan holders. For more information on these plans and their inclusive features please review the following documentation: https://en.support.wordpress.com/plan-features/

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers

    Hi @sharoncorvers,

It’s not possible to directly edit theme files.

The Customizer allows users to add additional CSS rules in My Sites > Customize > CSS.

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/editing-css/

Please note that the Customizer won’t display all of the theme’s CSS, it only shows CSS that has been added by a user.

If you need to see the theme’s CSS being applied to an element, the web inspector in your browser can be used:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/how-to-find-your-themes-css/

All the online tutorials direct me to Appearance – Editor, but that does not show up in my menu.

Those tutorials are referring to the self-hosted version of WordPress(.org), not sites here WordPress.com. They have different features and functionality:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
