You don’t have to add a meta tag to make your site appear in Google search results.
Your forum profile indicates that the account was created three days ago. It typically takes a few days or more for Google to begin indexing the posts and pages of a new site. The home page of idbtevent.wordpress.com has already been indexed by Google. There are no posts published yet on the site.

To verify your site/domain with Google, follow these instructions:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/#google-search-console
The instructions you might be referring to that tell you to add a meta tag are for folks running the WordPress software on their own hosting. Here on WordPress.com you’ll need to follow the guide I linked above.
As others have said, verifying your site does not guarantee it will instantly appear in search results. Reading the SEO tips they’ve pointed out will help you understand how things work.

The Webmaster Tools support page says:
Please note that verifying your site in order to use the webmaster tools is not necessary in order for your site to be indexed with Google, Bing, or any other search engine.

For sure, musicdoc1, it’s not necessary to verify your site for it to be indexed.
I still wanted to let idbtevent know where to put the code on WordPress.com, since we do have a free option to do that and it’s something they wanted to know what to do with. Once the site is verified, all kinds of analytics are available in Google’s console that may be helpful, as well.

Sorry. I failed to read your entire first post. : )
I just wanted to make it clear that, contrary to the idea the OP evidently had, enabling Webmaster Tools has, as far as I know, nothing to do with getting a site to appear on Google. -
