Where do lost comments go?

  Several friends have replied to posts but their comments are not coming through to me. I even posted one myself that has vanished into thin air! Is this an iPad/ iPhone issue?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Ah ha! Two were lurking in the spam. Three are still AWOL!

  Something seems to go wrong when people try to reply above the line in the email they receive of the post…

  Two of the missing comments came from an iPhone user. One was from a laptop…

  Did one of the email responses you sent not work? Can you forward the email you sent from your sent mail folder to our support address at help@wordpress.com? Add a link to this forum topic to the top of the email so we can connect the two.

  Good morning!
  When I published the post wordpress sent out an email to all my followers. On that email it says reply above the line. It seems my father tried to do this from his pc and his comment was lost. Similarly, the friend with the iPhone, who tried to post it twice.
  It wasn’t and email response from me, but an email response from wordpress, so I haven’t understood what you are asking for.
  Please clarify!

  I’d like to take a look at the email that your friend or father emailed back to us to post their comment. In leu of that, if you know what either of their comments said I can try to find where those comments went.

  Hi all – I replied to @pkynigou’s email, but to close the loop on this here, there appears to be a bug if you have “Comment author must fill out name and e-mail” checked in your Discussion Settings where if a logged-out reader replies from their email, the comment doens’t come through.

  This kind of makes sense in that they can’t include their name and email if they reply through an email while logged out, but I’d expect the comment to at least go into moderation.

  I’ve opened a bug report for this, and in the meantime, if anyone else has this issue, unchecking ‘Comment author must fill out name and e-mail’ in your Discussion Settings should fix it.
