where do the images seen on Freshly Pressed come from?
-
hello;
are the images seen on freshly pressed coming from the bloggers’ posts? or from their blog header (or some other global setting)?
if they do come from actual posts, how do I set an image for it?
thanks,

The pictures are chosen by wordpress.com, just like the post that are featured.

I read that article but I didn’t see anything about the images that show up in freshly pressed.
you suggested that they choose the pictures … are you suggesting that they get an image from your post and crop it themselves?
thanks.

Yes I am.
in fact images are chosen to show in the WordPress Reader, is done by a computer progam, like scripts, or “bots”.I am not sure whether the images chosen for the freshly pressed page are chosen by wordpress employee humans or by computer.
maybe someone else know that.

I’ve noticed that the images for freshly pressed are usually perfect … the eyes of a face are perfectly centered as an example. This makes me think that it is NOT a computer auto-cropping.

When my post was featured on FP, the image which appeared was a cropped version of the first image in that particular post.
However, I’m not sure if it was chosen because it was first, or it was better quality among all of my images, or if it best represented the topic I wrote about. I’m guessing it might be a combination of all three, in the hope that the image will encourage people to click as much as the post title might.

We bloggers have no control over which images are displayed and which sizes are displayed on global tag pages. Staff do all selection and we have no input into that decision making.
