Im overwhemled here. Tags, themes, blogs, widgets, shortlinks, apps, codes!!! I feel like Im learning a new language. Is there a supprt group for beginner bloggers and the art of blog language-ing?
-
Not that I know of.
You might want to take a look here though: http://learn.wordpress.com/ .

Read the Forum daily for a few minutes – I have learned a ton by just seeing what others were having problems with and what the solutions were.
Also look at the getting started part of the Support area: http://en.support.wordpress.com/
You will find a Page on Pages, Posts, Tags, etc. just put the word you are wondering about in the search box –

Ditto on the “overwhelming”. I’m also new to WordPress. I’ve been “lurking” around trying to find ways to improve my blog, but the more I look at people’s blog the more overwhelmed I get.
Let me give you a degree of my clueless self. I don’t even know how to change the FONT on my blog! -
@laavventura
Hello there. I’m an experienced wordpress blogger and I welcome new bloggers to my site. My aim is to provide useful information to both beginners and to those who wish to improve their blogging skills. My guest authors and I blog on the themes of becoming a better blogger, building a better blog, and effective (ie. Shameless) blog promotion. -
Nice blog Timethief! Lots of useful information there – cheers!

If you are expecting to be able to click a button and change fonts throughout your blog then it’s not that easily done. There are 4 ways to change fonts on wordpress.com blogs.
(1) Changing font colors and size on posts or pages either post by post or page by page http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/
(2) Changing font colors using the #4 icon http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
(3) Changing font families using TypeKit Fonts http://typekit.zendesk.com/entries/121731-using-typekit-with-wordpress
(4) Changing font families, colors & sizes via a CSS editing upgrade

Another good site for tips – caution – many of the tips are advanced but a good site with a lot of reference info: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/

When I was a newbie I posted questions on this forum and the lovely forum lurkers (mostly timethief) helped me learn all about the bits and bobs that go to making a blog site.
Just take baby steps – start with a template (theme) that you like, then gradually work out what else you’d like to have on your site and experiment with all the options in your dashboard.

~~ waving to somethingsthat :) We Volunteers do aim to please but we only teach new members “how to fish (blog)”. We do expect them to read the sticky post at the head of the forum, and become familiar with support documentation, and with sing the searchbox there as well as the forum searchbox. http://en.support.wordpress.com
