Where has my dashboard gone?
-
So, I woke up this morning ( this is not the start of a blues song but it might as well be) and I find that the dashboard to my site has vanished overnight!
Instead of being greeted by the familiar, slick and easily navigated set-up, I see it has been replaced by some garish, cumbersome eyesore with most of the useful features missing!!
Am I alone in this? If not has WordPress once again messed with something that doesn’t need fixing?
Bah humbug!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If the link to WP Admin isn’t on the bottom of the left column of your current dashboard, you can access the classic dashboard by adding /wp-admin/ to the end of your website address. For example, http://mibih.wordpress.com/

Ah I see… so they’ve separated the dashboard from the main site? What was the point of that?
At least it’s still there. That’s a relief.
Thanks for the reply! :-)

In short, the reason they did this was to make it better :)
Here is an interesting article titled, “The Story Behind the New WordPress.com,” that discusses the changes:
https://developer.wordpress.com/2015/11/23/the-story-behind-the-new-wordpress-com/I know it can take some getting used to. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for the link.
To be honest I’m not a techie or a programmer so I was completely lost after the first paragraph as everything thereafter was 99% jargon!
I’m sure they mean well but I wish they would send out notifications to WP users via E-mail or such, since I am sure most of us only consult these forums when something goes wrong.
Thanks again and Merry Xmas to you! :-)

You’re welcome! Without getting technical, the new interface really is meant to make things better. Not just right now, but in the future as well. It is a bit different the first time you see it, though ;) Please feel free to ask if you have any specific questions as you start working with it.
Thank you! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you as well :)
