Where has my domain gone?

I have just signed up and accepted the option of buying the domain “excellenceunlimited.com” for $18 + $8 to secure it.
I have not received any confirmation and now I am presented with excellenceunlimited.wordpress blog to populate.
Where did excellenceunlimited.com go?Chris
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

excellenceunlimited.com – has been registered since 2008 and is currently parked at Godaddy.com and probably for sale – so that is the first issue – you can’t buy excellenceunlimited.com from WordPress.COM
Look in
Dashboard >> Store >> My Upgrades or
Dashboard >> Store >> Billing History for what you have spentIf you want that domain name you will need to buy it from the current owner – else you need to come up with a different name

Thanks for the prompt reply. I did not realsie that the offer to buy the domain at the sign up process was not validated by ensuring it was actually available!.

$18 is the usual backorder price through Go Daddy to attempt to register a domain through us should the current registrant not renew the domain. While I can’t guarantee that this what you saw during your signup process, as the domain is registered through us, you can reach out and we’d be happy to take a look and go over any options.

It’s easiest to check the availability of a domain name before you try and register it – you can do a whois or just try and go to the prospective domain name with your browser – sounds like the Buy a Domain Name process can use some better error messages at some point –
