Where is all this traffic I'm suddenly getting coming from and what caused it?

Where are all those hits I am suddenly getting coming from?! I went from an average of 150 hits a day to 1200 today, I haven’t posted in three months. I’m delighted about it but I need to understand what caused it so I can do it again. Most of the hits are going to one particular post. Thank you!

and you will find the source of traffic in the Referrers section.

Thank you for answering! I checks stats everyday but today I’m almost at 3,200 hits and apparently they come mostly from Facebook. It makes no sense, if I go to my facebook, I don’t have much there, somebody must have shared a link to my blog in their facebook, not mine. When I use the link you sent me, it takes me to my regular stats and as I said, it says that almost 3,000 came from facebook….

Yes, someone must have posted a link to your article on their Facebook profile or article, and it’s getting a lot of traction.
You can just search for that post’s URL in facebook.com, and you’ll see everyone who shared it publicly.
