Where is my domain

  • Unknown's avatar

I bought a domain the other day and I couldn’t use my email address to upload files because I already had a free website with you, so I canceled to get it again with the same email, and now I don’t have a refund, or the domain name, not even I cancelation email confirming that I no longer own that domain. the domain name was Julianarintoul.com, what is going on?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

The domain, julianarintoul.com, was bought using a different username, julianarintoulyahoocom

Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all. You should never cancel a domain that you still want to use, as there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to use it again somewhere else in future. Only cancel a domain if you’re completely sure you no longer want it at all.

If you wanted to use the domain with a different account you could have just transferred it instead of cancelling it.

In this case the domain should be available again by the end of the week, at which point you can try to register it using this account. But until then we can only restore the domain to the account that originally bought it. We can’t manually release it so you can buy it using this account instead.

As for the refund, we refunded the full $48 payment to the julianarintoulyahoocom account, and if you log into that account and go to the Billing History page, you’ll see a receipt for the refund there:

    https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing/

It typically takes around 10 business days for the refund to show in your account, depending on your bank’s processing times, and it might take longer if you paid using a card issued by a non-US bank. We don’t have any control over that.

I don’t have any idea what you mean here. There is no limit on the number of sites you can have in any one WordPress.com account, and the email address connected to an account has nothing to do with whether or not you’re able to upload files to the media library.
