Where is my spam?
-
I’m not getting very many comments in my blog http://kukannuppu.wordpress.com/ and lately I noticed that in Manage > Akismet Spam says: “Akismet has caught 49 spam for you since you first installed it.
You have no spam currently in the queue. Must be your lucky day. :) “How do I see my “spam”? I believe that that some of the spam might be real comments! In some other questions people are referring that they can mark some comments as “not-spam”. I can’t find a place where my “spam comments” would be listed. If I go to Comments-page, all I can see are 20 latest comments (not all of the comments and none of them are spam.
-
The listing of Spam is located at Dashboard -> Manage -> Akismet Spam. If you don’t have any, lucky you. :)
-
I’m afraid you missed the point of my question. I try again: I’m getting spam (Akismet says: 49 spam…) but I don’t find any way to check what Akismet lists as spam. There is no link to a list of any kind. I’d like to check, if these comments are true spam or real comments from my readers. Where are spam comments held for a check-up?
-
As DrMike said, go there.
But it will only show you a few of the latest ones (within 15 days) under latest spam.
See:
Latest Spam
These are the latest comments identified as spam by Akismet. If you see any mistakes, simply mark the comment as “not spam” and Akismet will learn from the submission. If you wish to recover a comment from spam, simply select the comment, and click Not Spam. After 15 days we clean out the junk for you.
For instance:
Akismet has caught 1,259 spam for you since you first installed it.
That’s what it says for me…. but I think i can only view 4 pages or so (a handful) of the spam.
But dont be worried if you cant see all the comments. Akismet is great. It really knocks spam on the head but I have never seen it catch out anyone it shouldn’t so far!
-
I’ve started checking the Akismet page more frequently since I found two posts by one poster that had been mistakenly marked at spam. It’s the first time it’s happened in over four months of posting, so akismet is very efficient. But not perfect.
-
Agreed, it’s not perfect. That’s why you mark teh ones that get through as spam. So Akismet learns about them. :)
There is no link to a list of any kind.
Yes, there is. Dashboard -> Manage -> Akismet Spam. :)
-
Also, from your dashboard you can simply click on the spam total, down in the bottom right-hand side.
I couldn’t possibly troll through the spam for real comments. I get one page an hour, minimum. My only hope is that my spam-listed commenters return another day.

“Akismet has caught 49 spam for you since you first installed it.
You have no spam currently in the queue. Must be your lucky day. :) “That number is the total spam comments that have been caught since you started the blog. If you delete them or if after 15 days they self-delete, it will still show that number because it is a “total” number, not the current spam that has been caught. When it says you have no spam in the queue, that means there is nothing current — all the spam that was there is older and has been deleted. If there were new spam, you could click and view it.

OK, not to beat a dead horse, but I am exp the same thing….. It says it stopped 6 spam items, but it only showed me 1 item and yes it’s been under 15 days…. Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem. Mine is a new blog, barely 15 days old itself, and I’m still learning how things work. Askimet claims it has caught 12 spam, but it has only ever shown me 4, of which 2 were legit comments. I would like to be able to see all of the “spam” to weed out any more good ones—at least as long as the numbers stay this low. Is there any way to see the rest of what Askimet thinks it caught?
-
Don’t quote me on this ;-), but I think this is just a result of the recent bug. I too have a new blog and Akismet tells me it’s stopped more spam than I’ve seen. Most recently, it did stop one, but that did *not* raise the number it says it’s stopped. It’s almost like it raises the number, then waits for the actual number of spam to catch up to it – or something. :-/ My sense is it’s doing its job correctly though.
-
it happened on my blog as well. i thought it’s caused by akismet’s bug. my friend has posted the comment, but i can’t see it. i check akismet spam list, but the list is empty. any ideas?

This thread might have some answers:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=7559&replies=29If the post to which someone is commenting is more than 30 days old, and Akismet thinks that person is spam, the comment is automatically deleted and never shows up at all except in the count total.

“The listing of Spam is located at Dashboard -> Manage -> Akismet Spam”
When I click on Dashboard and then Manage, I see a listing of the comments on my blog plus buttons to click for Posts, Pages, Uploads, Categories, Import, Export, and my drafts — but not a word about Akismet or spam there.
-
It got moved a bit ago. It’s now Dashboard -> Comments -> Akismet Spam.
Hope this helps,
