Where is my website?

    Once upon a time (about a year ago) I had a splendid WordPress website. Then it seems that one of those ‘Renew domain name NOW’ notices that I get all the time was not a scam, and I lost my domain name (thecarolwolf.com). I now own carolwolf.net. I built a new WordPress page. When I launched it, it suggested I shift management of my domain name, etc. to WordPress. This leads me to believe that that’s where it was before. If so, does my old webpage still exist? It was awesome, it had many pages, it will take ages to recreate it. I would like it back. Is it out there somewhere? How do I find it and get it back?

    Hey there,

    In doing some digging, I’m not seeing a fully built site connected to your lost domain name (thecarolwolf.com, currently hosted by JustHost) or your new domain (carolwolf.net, currently hosted by ENOM). Neither of those shows as being connected to your WordPress.com account. Might these have been used to connect to sites created on WordPress.org instead of WordPress.com? You can see more about the differences between .com and .org here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/.

    That being said, we don’t have support here for self-hosted WordPress.org sites. My best recommendation would be to reach out to your domains’ hosts for more information to help you track down your previous site.

    I can see the site you’ve created at https://carolwolf668203333.wordpress.com, presumably the one you have started re-building. With the purchase of a plan, you can add one of your domains to this site.

    Wow! You seem to be the one-eyed man in the world of the blind! I had no idea there was another WordPress. I don’t suppose you can find my thecarolwolf.com website that I once had, that was so awesome. It was set up for me by someone else, and two different people were involved in acquiring the domain name, the host, and building the site, both of whom claim they remember nothing about the details.

    I’d love to get that website back.

    thecarolwolf.com was neither registered nor mapped here, so that would have been another self-hosted WordPress.org site.

    It appears to have maybe been with JustHost, and you can reach their support at https://www.justhost.com/contact-us
