Where is my website picking up the gallery images from?

I created my website in 2014 using the free WordPress Thoughts theme. I still like it, but am doing a long over-due update.
All is going fine EXCEPT for one thing. I have a slideshow which appears at the top of my homepage. It is in a post (entitled MY WORK), which has a been set to Gallery format. But I can’t find where it is picking up the gallery images from and I need to change some of the very outdated ones. If I go to the original post, there is nothing to show me where the images are coming from. I would add a screen shot but can’t see how to do this on the forum.
I have searched high and low, and the specific theme documentations seems to have disappeared. I can’t add a gallery plugin as only posts appear on my Homepage. Can anyone help me? Thanks you…..

I’m afraid that, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with another company.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. Ah I apologise, I didn’t really understand the difference between .com and .org. Thanks for the advice.
