where is my WordPress site?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi I downloaded the desktop app and now it’s trying to create a new site for me and I can’t figure out how to access my existing site and edit it.
I was trying to change my contact email on the ’email’ tab on my homepage. I can’t find a place to contact WordPress directly so this is going on the forum I guess.
    Thanks

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What is the URL of your site?

  • Hi there,

If you want to use the app to manage your site in this account, make sure you log into the app using your kylajaynephotography username, and the same password you use to log into the web.

If you’re trying to manage a self-hosted WordPress site via the desktop app, you’ll need to install the Jetpack plugin on that site, and connect it to your WordPress.com account first. Then, when you log in using your WordPress.com account, you’ll see your site listed there.

The desktop app only works via a WordPress.com login, so it’s different from the WordPress mobile apps that allow you to log into a self-hosted WordPress site directly, without linking it to a WordPress.com account. That’s because the desktop app is essentially the WordPress.com website wrapped in a container that allows it to run directly on your computer, rather than a completely stand-alone app like the mobile apps.
