WHERE IS THE CONFIRMATION EMAIL TO DELETE????

  • Unknown's avatar

Super frustrating. I am trying to delete my blog on WordPress.com and have repeatedly been told that a confirmation email has been sent to my email address and I need to click the confirmation to complete. NO, IT IS NOT IN MY SPAM FOLDER. I just want my website off wordpress.com. Why is this so difficult? Anyone help here? I have contacted support several times and have not heard anything back yet.

    Over it.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

In the dashboard for the blog you are wanting to delete, go to settings > general and verify the admin email address that is listed there as that is the one the confirmation email would be sent to.

Also, are you checking the spam filter at your internet service provider or the one on your email program?

For right now, just go to settings > privacy and set the blog to private. That effectively takes it offline entirely.

Are you talking about the site linked to your username?

If so, it has a custom domain, so as tsp has suggested, make it private so that you’ll still have access to the domain management dashboard when you need it.

Good catch Jennifer. If a site has a custom domain name associated with it, it cannot be deleted because you have to have that dashboard to be able to administer the domain stuff. If thati si the case, there should have been a warning come up when you tried to delete it saying you could not due to the domain attached to that blog account.

My goal is not to take it offline. My goal is to delete it. I am trying to open it up on my new host, which is Host Gator, and modify it with WordPress.ORG, but whenever I open that program it automatically loads up my wordpress.COM.

Will taking it offline fix this problem as well? I would think that only deleting it off of wordpress.COM would fix it.

  • http://isurvivedthezombies.com/ seems to be pointing to your self-hosted blog just fine.

It can take domain changes up to 72 hours (though usually much less) to propagate to your ISP. Unfortunately, we have no control over this as it all depends on how often your ISP refreshes their DNS cache.

If you’d like to delete http://isurvivedthezombies.wordpress.com/ we certainly can, but please note that you’ll never be able to use the blog, nor its name again.

/headdesk Ah, DNS caching, how I love you.

macmanx, this makes sense now. Still new to the whole blog world, trying to teach myself as I go. Thanks to everyone for chiming in and helping out. I have updated my MX records on Host Gator and my DNS servers on Go Daddy. I’m not going to delete my wordpress.COM site in case I ever want to come back to it later.

I guess now all I have to do is wait it out until tomorrow or whenever DNS cache refreshes. Thanks again for everyone’s help. Much appreciated, and if you are interested in zombies, weapons, or survival info feel free to check out my blog in a bit once I get this all figured out!
