Where is the “DIRECTORY” people keep talking about?
-
Hi there – I just signed up for my blog this week (with the upgrade for editable CSS). I’m a newbie and know basic html and css. I cannot figure out where to access my “directory!” If someone can please tell me step by step, how to locate my files, I would so appreciate it. I’m wondering if maybe I don’t have access because I signed up for the “free” blog (even though I upgraded to be able to edit the CSS. Perhaps I have to have purchased a higher level of wordpress to have access to my files/directory?? Thank you ahead of time,
Kate

Please don’t post the same thing more than once.
Who are these people and which directory are you talking about? There is no upgrade that allows access to underlying files and their directories, except the VIP upgrade, which most people don’t qualify for.

There are a number of posts where wordpress users are accessing their file directory. Here are a couple:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/254029 (this person is talking about accessing their php files)
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/installation/
(this one references the following location: /wp-content/plugins/About posting the same question twice: I apologize. As I said, I’m new and this is my very first time posting.

Notice that those links are from WordPress.ORG?
They are different from wordpress.COM

Since I’ve obviously done a bad thing by posting twice (simply thinking I had posted in the wrong place on the first post), I’ll ask you if there is a way I can delete my first post. That way I’ll have only posted once like I obviously should have.

To 1tess: Thank you – you may have answered it for me. I just read the link you sent and it appears that I, like many others did not understand the difference between the .org and .com wordpress. The people that are talking back and forth about editing php files and other areas in their file directories probably are have their own host and are on the .org version.
Thank you again. Kate

You didn’t know. ella and I were simply trying to make it easier for other volunteers to answer your question (if you needed more than one post to get the answer) on only one thread. She and I posted at the same time, so I’m sorry if it sounded rude. Unfortunately, we can’t delete threads. Is this the blog that you bought the CSS upgrade for?
http://drenchedinsunlight.wordpress.com/If so, then you are posting in the correct forum. And we don’t have access to the directory or any underlying code. The CSS only allows for changes in the appearance of themes.

That’s okay – I’m just happy that I don’t have to spend any more time searching and searching for a way to edit those files! Again thanks for that link and the information on posting to threads.
