Where is the H1 field?

    I’ve just started learing how to Edit my WP website https://woodsshop.com/

    I’m using a site checker to check the SEO and one thing it says for my Home page-

    H1 Length- 135 characters (Recommended: 5-70 characters)

    This is a s shot of the page when I’m editing. Where is the H1 line / field?

    A little background about my website

    Someone originally built the basic site in 1999 using Adobe Dreamweaver, then I kept adding to it using Adobe Contribute. A year ago I had it rebuilt using WordPress which I know nothing about using, and there was no SEO included. So now I’m working on the SEO

    Hi there,

    Websites should only have one h1 tag, and that’s typically used for the site title. But your theme doesn’t display a title, and I don’t see a hidden title if I inspect the HTML in my browser either, which is why the SEO tool you used also can’t see it.

    Theme elements, like the site title, is something completely separate from the content of your pages, so you won’t see an option to edit that in the page editor that you showed in your screen shot.

    The site title is controlled by your theme, so it could be there’s a setting somewhere in your theme whether or not to display a site title – most WordPress themes allow you to set a site title, so it’s present in the HTML where search engines and screen readers can see it, but hide it so it’s not visible on the page. But I’m not familiar with the theme you’re using on this site, so can’t tell you if this theme works that way. I would suggest you contact support for your theme directly for help with this.

    Also note that right now you’re posting in the support forums for the hosting provider, WordPress.com, but your site is using the open source version of WordPress, which is something different, that you’re hosting at another provider. So while I’m happy to try and point you in the right direction, my ability to actually help is limited, as we have no control over how your site works.

    For help with your version of WordPress, it’s best to ask in the WordPress.org forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/, unless it’s a theme or plugin issue, in which case contacting support for that product directly is the better option.

    wow Kokkish that was a great explanation, I’m a beginner with this stuff and now know a lot more so thanks for that!

    Yeah that other forum asked me to post over here LOL!
