Where is the link for the comment?

I have posted two blogs, but I don’t see the link for comments below. Where is the link for comments?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Could you post your question in the self-hosted forums at https://wordpress.org/support/
This forum is only to help WordPress.com users. As yours is a self-hosted WordPress.org based site, the right forum to get help is: https://wordpress.org/support/
WordPress.org forums require a separate account which you can create at https://wordpress.org/support/register.php
In case you haven’t got a chance to know the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org (self-hosted WordPress site), I encourage you to check it: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hi Chaitanamsv,
I am fairly new to WordPress. Maybe you can help me since you mentioned that there is a difference. I need to fix this issue. I was trying to get an HTML verification from Google, but I can’t seem to get one.
Apparently, when I logged into HostGator, my webhost, I had the option of doing Quick Install for WordPress.
Each time I log into WordPress.com, I see an icon at that top that says “My Site.” It’s also giving me the option of adding another WordPress Account.
I have worked so hard on creating that site and fell in love with the theme. I really don’t want to have to create a new site, but the problem with that site is that I don’t have a Home Page. The most recent post shows up.
I wanted to showcase links to categories at the top of the page, where people can click on it. The way it’s setup, currently, the categories are at the bottom.
My site does not even have a Dashboard. In the “Editing Mode,” this is all I see starting from top to bottom on the left side:
“My Site” to the right of that, “Reader”
Underneath it you have:Add New WordPress
Health & Wellness (my website)Stats
Plan
Publish
Blog Posts
Pages
Personalize
Themes
Menus
Configure
Sharing
People
Plugins
SettingsI don’t see any of the stuff that I need to set up an HTML verification for Google.
The only thing at the bottom is:
Meta
Login
Entries RSS
Comments RSSI tried logging in from there, but it keeps telling me that my UID and PW are incorrect.
I have a feeling that my website is setup on something that is not a full version of WordPress.
The question is how do I integrate the website that I already have into the full version of WordPress that looks entirely different from what I have on my website. I don’t even have a Home Page, which I want. The site is limiting. I need to integrate it into the full version of WordPress. Any ideas how to do that?
Thanks,
Anne

Hi Anne,
What you have setup on your Hostgator account is called “self hosted WordPress” or WordPress.org. It is completely free, open source, and you can install it on your server of choice, as you have done! It is a full version of WordPress. :)
Now, the parent company of WordPress (Automattic) has another service called WordPress.com. If you sign up for WordPress.com, Automattic will provide storage and hosting to you. Again, it is a full version of WordPress, with tiered pricing for different features and services.
You can manage your WordPress.org site from WordPress.com and also from the WP Admin. For you site, WP Admi will be available at http://anneelbeycopywriter.net/wp-admin. The username and password for WP Admin will be different from your WordPress.com credentials. You, or your webhost, must have created that username and password while setting up the website. If you’re unable to find it, please contact Hostgator and they will reset it.
To show a static homepage on your site instead of the latest posts, you will have to log in to your WP Admin, go to Settings > Reading, and choose an already created static page from the list.
For future queries on your site, please head over to the WordPress.org forums, where the good folk will be more than happy to help you. :)

Oh, and for Google HTML verification, you will have to log in to your server via FTP and place the Google file in the home directory. Hostgator will be able to help you better on this.

Thank you so very much for your help. I have lots to consider.
BTW, I paid about $100.00 to Askiment to keep my site SPAM free. I believe that’s the service they provide. I also got a welcome message from WordPress, so I did pay for the service. I’m just confused, since I have already set up the site. I did not want to start all over again. I’ll re-read your msg and contact Hostgator. Ther is so much to learn.

Mishrashutosh, you are awesome!
Thanks again for all you help. It’s greatly appreciated.

Mishrashutosh, I wanted to come back and thank you for all your helpful tips. I did not have to contact HostGator. I had written down the password. I was confused at first as to why I had so many passwords. The confusion came when I was trying to log in with my admin password. I must have changed the password three times, only to find out that the admin password is generated by the system.
I thought that was the password for logging into WordPress, but it’s not. I noticed others had that same problem as well. Hopefully, they will make changes in the future as not to confuse the newbies.
I have managed to make changes to my site as to how the front page appears. I used the link to view the support page for helpful tips.
I don’t know how long it takes for the HTML verification to work. I have copied and pasted the Meta link exactly as it appeared, but I still cannot get a verification. I may have to contact HostGator. I pasted the link in the right area, so I have no idea why it didn’t work.
Thanks again for all your help.

Mishrashutosh, after all the error messages, I have finally verified my website with Google, Bing, and Pinterest.
I have to say that Pinterest and Bing made it much more easier than Yahoo. The codes I got from Google and Bing had too many things in it. They were not organized the write way when it was downloaded. I then realized that I could copy the Meta Texts from the site itself, which is what I did.
I forgo calling HostGator, b/c like GoDaddy, they would charge for the service. I don’t think it’s fair to nickel and dime PPL that way. It’s a huge turnoff.
Anyway, thanks again for all your help.

There should be a way to edit our posts.
I meant “I have to say that Pinterest and Bing made it much more easier than Google rather.”

Glad that you were able to sort out most of your issues, Anne. The best way to learn WordPress is by doing things on your own!
Hostgator has free email and live chat support, so you can use them in the future instead of calling.

Mishrashutosh, you are absolutely correct. I feel very accomplished knowing that I set up my own website. I did not know everything; no one does. I am proud to say that I have built my own website for the very first time in my life. It’s certainly not the same as starting a blog.
Lots of customization involved with building a site that suites one’s personality.
I’ll try the chat next time if I have to contact Hostgator in the future.
Thanks again for all your help. It’s greatly appreciated.
I’m still tweaking the site, but the most important part is out of the way.
