Where is the Notifications button?
-
I can’t seem to find my Notfications button. It used to be under my Reader but it’s not there any more? Where has it gone to?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-

It’s not listed under “Reader” on the Admin bar any longer on my blog, too. It was there a few days ago.

Figuring out what the notifications URL is is doesn’t amount to rocket science … lol :D
It’s https://wordpress.com/notifications/ -
If you are having issues with viewing the link on the Admin bar then I recommend making sure that you are running one of the browsers and versions of them found at http://browsehappy.com or upgrading please.
-
The browser is updated.
I have the notifications url bookmarked so no problem actually getting there.
The question is, why isn’t it listed under Reader on our Admin bar like it used to be listed?
-
Why would the notifications link appear under the Reader link?
Reader→ https://wordpress.com/
https://wordpress.com/notifications/I do not have this issue and I tagged this thread for a Staff response. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

Hi there,
When you say that the notification menu is missing, do you mean this one?
And only just now after having made this screenshot do I realize that my Gravatar is pointing at my notifications. It’s the little things in life . . .
So yes, is this what is missing from your menu bar? And is it only in Safari, or in other browsers as well?
-
I can’t see anything on your screenshot; just a black, blank page.
I’m using Firefox browser.
Just a day or two ago, when I moved my cursor over the “Reader” on the Admin bar, it listed several items, one was the “notifications” page. Now it only lists one item, “Freshly Pressed”.
The only reason I even looked for it was my notifications button on the Admin bar was not working at all. Nothing came up. So to check on new comments, likes, new follows, etc, I had to go to the universal “notifications” page, https://wordpress.com/notifications/, which I then bookmarked for easy access.
Now the notifications button is working.

I’m using Firefox browser.
So am I and I can see the screenshot amightywp posted above.
I am using Firefox 33
Check here and tell is what version you are using please. If your browser version is outdated then upgrade it here http://browsehappy.com please. -

Howdy Folks,
Using FF 33.1. I have a notifications button (speech bubble) just to the left of the search button (magnifying glass) on the far right of the top Admin bar in my dash. The notifications button looks a lot like the comments button in the (left) Admin sidebar. -
Picture of the top of my admin page, with Notifications button circled in red: http://snag.gy/OZ5PH.jpg.
-
Thanks, musicdoc, however, that is not what is missing.
If you look to the left on your Admin bar, you will see “Reader”, if you then hover over it, you will then see a drop down list of items. The notifications link was listed there and now it’s gone from some of our blogs.

@dandelionsalad,
Oh, sorry. I hadn’t read the whole thread. Amightywp has a screen shot showing the same button I circled in my screen shot. The only thing that drops down when hovering over Reader in my dash is Freshly Pressed. I don’t know if it has changed recently. -
Yes, that is what changed in the last few days.
The title of this thread is not quite accurate as what is missing is the link not the button for the notifications page.
Thanks for letting me know what the screen shot showed as I could not see anything at all (for some other unknown reason).
-
Yes, that link functionality was duplicated. The notification bubble is where you can go to get your notifications. Sorry for any inconvenience, however the bubble should appear on every admin bar whenever you are logged in to WordPress.com.
-
Thanks for letting us know, amightywp.
Fine except when the notifications button doesn’t work at all, which happened to my blog for a couple days.
-
In cases like that knowing what the notification link is https://wordpress.com/notifications/ and even bookmarking it is a sensible thing to do.
-
Absolutely, timethief, thank you. I bookmarked it last week for any possible future glitches. Although I didn’t think of doing so until the notifications button stopped working.
