Where is the Notifications button?
-
John Jr, I checked the link and, “Oops, I’m not using OpenDNS”
Lol, so that’s not your problem either if it’s not even part of my equation. -
Thank you Mark4303, that is good to know, we can now remove that from our list. ;)

Okay… I have a screenshot of the Java stuff, just one popped up, and now I don’t know how to add a screenshot to this thread…
-
Looking at John Jr’s screen shot, I have the same JS error pop up that he has in the middle.
Use of getPreventDefault() is deprecated. Use defaultPrevented instead. notes-widget.min.js:2

Hello Mark4303,
I usually upload my screenshots/images to MediaCrush (https://mediacru.sh/) for free (no account needed) and all you have to do is copy the link for the image(s) to this topic.
There is also the WordPress.com Support page for learning how to make Screenshots:

Thanks!! I got the screenshot, just thought there would be an easy photo upload spot here.
Oh well, I just copied and pasted the same JS error that we can see in your screen shot, the middle error. Something about a notes widget. :)

The error is good enough! Thanks! However, I think that particular one about getPreventDefault() being deprecated is just a warning, but the very first one in johnjronline’s screenshot at https://cdn.mediacru.sh/ULGAcv-DpKWF.png that says “st_go is not defined” and that’s highlighted in red is the kind of thing I’m looking for to pass on to developers.
There’s one more thing I want to confirm:
mark4303 and johnjronline, does https://wordpress.com/notifications always load for you without any problems?
-
Hello Designsimply,
You are welcome. :)
I have only tried (https://wordpress.com/notifications) four times since this problem started, and it has worked each of those four times it seems:

Today Notifications are showing up again it seems for me, at least the ones from 14 hours ago, I am not sure if any new notifications have come through since then or not.
Thank you,

Oh! Ha, I just made a bug report too. Let me know if the problem shows up for you again.
I am not sure if any new notifications have come through since then or not.
Can you compare the latest one in the dropdown against https://wordpress.com/notifications and just let me know if they are different for you?
-
I am still seeing the same notifications from my screenshot from a few minutes ago:
https://mediacru.sh/cHUnzxVmqY0G
Even though it is showing up now there are still some JS errors in that screenshot from minutes ago.

Thanks johnjronline. I added this to the bug report. As I mentioned earlier, we are working on some updates so the toolbar might actually be updated before someone can have a look at this particular report. I filed it anyway in case the problem persists, and we can look at it again later if it does.
Thanks again for providing screenshots and checking for JavaScript errors in your browser console. It’s very helpful!

Sorry for delay!
If I go to WordPress.com/notifications URL, I can see all my up to date notifications no problem. It’s just the function of clicking the notification button and the corresponding dropdown never loads.
Thanks for all your efforts! If the menu is being updated/changed anyway, maybe that’ll fix it when the time comes. :)

It’s not working again on my blog. It just spins and never opens up.
Looks like it is effecting others too as there are other threads about this tonight.
-
dandelionsalad, sorry to hear you’re still having trouble! I just tried testing notifications on your account, and they worked for me. Can you try checking them again now and let me know if it’s still broken for you?
-
No, it still just spins. At least I know where the notifications page is. haha.
Thanks for helping out, designsimply.

I tried using Chrome, too, and the notifications button doesn’t work there either. I use Firefox, latest version.
If I open another page on my blog, the notification button is still highlighted “on” until I go to the universal link for all notifications. So to turn it “off” I must go to the link.
