Where is the option for domain mapping?

I’ve been on http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/10/domain-mapping/ and I consider paying 10$/year for domain mapping. I have the domain name itself on my fingertips, and all I need is the CNAME record for my blog.
But then… I can’t find the option to upgrade in the admin panel. There are only Custom CSS, Unlimited Private Users, No Ads, and space upgrades. Where did the domain option go? Is it gone — which means we do not need to pay 10$ just for receiving the CNAME record? :P

Yes, I have checked that before, but there is no option to pay. It only shows me
Add a Domain
While, in fact, I already have one. All I need is only the CNAME — no need to register the domain name again. So where is the page which leads to pay for the CNAME?

When you type in your domain or subdomain, you’ll be taken through all of the steps, one of which is to purchase the credits using PayPal. -

Hmm, the weird thing is, it doesn’t show any links — at all. I did see the another topic, but I thought it doesn’t explain my situation well… perhaps I’ll just paste what I got back there:
Credits
Domain mapping is available for 10 credits per domain per year, registration not included. You have 0 credits. You will have to purchase additional credits via PayPal. Note that some forms of payment (eChecks) may take several days to process.
Possible problem with xaliber.net
We were unable to verify that general.xaliber.net is pointing to WordPress.com. If you own this domain, follow the directions below to get it ready for your blog. If you don’t own it, try a different name to see if something else is available. If the domain is available, you may be able to register it with another registrar and then map it to your blog.
How to fix it
You must make some changes to your domain before we can continue. (Sorry about the technical jargon!) The preferred method is to use the tools provided by your registrar to add a CNAME record. It should look like this:
general 14400 IN CNAME deathlock.wordpress.com.
Each registrar has its own method of adding CNAME records. The important parts of this record are your subdomain (“general”) and your original blog domain (“deathlock.wordpress.com”).
(If you have already done this it may take several hours for the changes to be recognized here. Please try again in a little while.)
If all else fails
If you need help, or if your registrar recommends a different solution, please contact support via the Help link at the top right of this page. We will help you sort it out.
While in the other hand, when I contacted my host provider, they asked me to get WordPress CNAME first. That… confuses me.

You need to setup the CNAME at your host/registrar first such asgeneral 14400 IN CNAME deathlock.wordpress.com.Once that is done and our servers see it, the next step will take you through purchasing the credits. It won’t let you do that until the CNAME is setup though.

I spent a lot of time between Christmas 2008 and today trying to figure this out. No luck so far. I am convinced the “CNAME at your host/registrar” is correct.
Here is a view of the DNS for the domain I am trying to configure: http://anyoldbones.com/images/dns_shot.jpg
So CNAME is set correctly but I still get “We were unable to verify that blog.anyoldbones.com is pointing to WordPress.com.”
Any suggestions?

How long ago did you make the CNAME change? It takes a while (like 72 hours) for it to propagate thru the system. Once it does, you will be able to add it. (BTW – your change looks correct to me, FWIW)
