Where is the option to "throw away" my email address?
-
I cannot find the option anywhere to throw away my email address. This will be my second ticket I sent in regarding somebody using miy email to set up an account. I recently found by trying to comment and was told my email was already in use. I changed the password and in the email I relieved from the support staff said I could throw
Out my email and the account will go “dormant”. I do not wish to have my email tied to an account I am not interested in. How can I remove my email address from this account? I don’t really care if the account can not be deleted, but I DO NOT want my email address tied to this count at all. -
Hi there,
All you were required to provide to register an account was an email address and it can be replaced at any time.Although username accounts are not deleted, so you cannot be impersonated and have your reputation affected by anyone registering the same username in the future, there are steps you can take that amount to removing all personal information and result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind. http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/
1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.
2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
