Where is the POST window?

OK, so I’m new. So I’ve signed up and logged in with just a Username “in order to post comments or contribute articles to someone else’s blog.” (This straight from the the Support page.)
I’m on the blogged I was invited to Post to. But there is no Post button. I seem to be able to comment away but not just no straight forward post. I am using Google browser. Can this be the problem?

You have to be at the dashboard for the blog which would be at: http://blogname.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ , or course replacing “blogname with the name of the blog.

Then in the navigation section at the left of the window, click on posts and then it will expand to show edit, add new, tags and categories. Click on “add new” and you will be taken to the visual editor screen where you write posts.

Ok so I tried that but it keeps kicking me to http://wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Still no Post or navigation on the left.

While logged in to your account, when you are here in the forums, there should be a gray bar at the top of the page. It should have, from left to right, “My Account” and “My Dashboards” at the very least.

    Nope. Just “My Account”.

Also, are you sure they have added you as a contributor, author, editor or administrator?

One other thing to try is to log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then log back in. Then click on “my dashboards” in the gray bar and the blog should be listed there if they have set you up as one of the above.

    Same in Internet Explorer 5.0.4730.11.
    and in Mozilla FireFox 3.0.4

    One of three things then.

    1. They have not actually added you with one of the roles I mentioned.

    2. They added you but with an email address other than the one you used to sign up for your account here.

    3. They added you before you had an account, and wordpress did not make the link after you signed up.

Contact the blog owner and tell them to delete you as a contributor/author, etc., and then add you in again making sure to use the email address that you used to sign up for your account.

Once they have successfully added you then the dashboard link will show up in the gray bar when you are logged in and you can then select that blog from that pulldown and then you will be taken to the dashboard for that blog where you can write posts.

I’ll check on that. It was supposed to be. Shouldn’t My Dashboard be “up there” regardless?

Not unless when you signed up for your account you also created a blog. If you just signed up for a username then the dashboard link would not be there.
