Where is the "Skip Purchase" option to launch without upgrading?

I am trying to launch a free blog with a subdomain and don’t wish to upgrade. When I go to Settings>General>Launch, I end up at the “choose domain” page with no option to skip.
I have seen other responses to this question say “After pressing the Launch Site button, on the domains page, click Skip Purchase at the bottom. Then on the Plans page click the option at the top to continue with the free plan.”
The “choose domains” page that the Launch button takes me to does not have a “Skip Purchase” option. How do I find that? Thank you!

Hi there, When you go to launch your site, type something in the line on the domains screen and then you’ll see your free .wordpress.com address with the
Skip Purchaseoption at the bottom of that page. Then keep following any other free site prompts.Let us know if you need further help with this.

I can confirm you have launched your site and it is available to the public. Also I’d like to think that starting a blog is not “retro” but “forward-thinking” instead. :)

staff-totoro the original poster here is not alone in being puzzled by how to launch their new WordPress.com website for free. There’s something confusing about the launch site flow on the domains page when users *don’t* want a custom domain name and want to continue with their free site address. #justsaying
