I was following the directions on wordpress about placing a Paypal Buy Now Button in the test widget for the sidebar. I have the buttons up on my introductory post which has a sticky on it. But I want them in the side bar so people can see them when reading new blogs.
thank you.

It looks like your code is not correctly formatted. Here is what you have got:
amp;hosted_button_id=ABBU68J4VS5EU"><img class="alignleft" alt="Buy Now Button with Credit Cards" src="https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_buynowCC_LG.gif" /></a><a href="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&And here is what you have on the post where you are seeing the buttons successfully:
<a href="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=ABBU68J4VS5EU"><img class="alignleft" alt="Buy Now Button with Credit Cards" src="https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_buynowCC_LG.gif" /></a><a href="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=J2AQMV9KC8TFA"><img class="aligncenter" alt="Buy Now Button with Credit Cards" src="https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_buynowCC_LG.gif" /> </a> -
I copied this new code into the text space of the text widget… still NO text widget. No text widget visible… this is frustrating. I need to get this done before publishing a particular blog… which I wanted to do yesterday… is there a reason that that the text widget simply does not work on my theme or something?? I can’t remember ever seeing one work. I copied the code you gave me and saved… nothing! Now I have to wait 2 days to hear from you again to try something else that may or may not work… is there another way of getting help? thank you.

Okay – I got it to work… I happened onto some page that mentioned ‘accessibility and add’ versus the drag… this worked. Dragging the widget, for some reason, caused it not to work. Odd – not explained? — Then I added the entire code you gave me on both and experimented with removing the other button. One has excess code… have tried deleting, but then the button goes away. DO you know which a> to delete to clear it up? – thanks.

I’ve got that fixed for you.

Thanks much… sorry for the complaining… but it was a bit vexing… and glad I found the ADD method which worked… as the drag didn’t for some reason. Now I’d like to stick a small picture next to the button… but I’ll try myself before bugging you. Best.

Very sorry to have to bother you! I am now trying the image widget… and again something is missing in the instructions. I go to media… click edit on the image… Now it says just right click… but on what? — you have to select something first… I tried a few ways… including the URL shortener… then tried coping the code into various lines (image line, etc) in the image widget… all to no positiveffect. Therefore I must ask you for more precise instructions.
How do you emplace the image into the image widget. Sorry – thanks.

The instructions that tell you how to use the image widget. It says go to media… choose picture… press edit… then C right click… but not on what…. I highlighted the url… with and without the word ‘pagemark’ or whathaveyou… then tried the url shortener option… just not clear. Something is missing form instructions?
Thanks.

You need the URL of the image itself to put into the “image URL” field in the image widget.
After you click “edit” you’ll see a page that has something like this on it:
You need to select and copy (either by control-clicking and choosing “copy” or going to “edit–>copy” at the top of your browser screen. The you paste that URL into the “image URL” field in the image widget.

Got it… was grabbing the url info form the wrong place… Thanks Again! — now, if you;d be so kind… and if I have not worn out my welcome… one last thing. Can you offer a quick bit of code and instructions on how to place an image in the text widget itself… I know there’s img… something and the quotes… and code goes between the quotes… but also – where to put it so it goes right on top of the pay now button…
Thank you!

<img src="IMAGEURLHERE">That is the code you want to use. In general, you would put it before the code for your button in your text widget.

Now that I have your ear… I wonder if you could spare one more bit of knowledge. — Is it possible to mess with Text Size in posts…? Basically want to enlarge… I have some color/illustrations from my fantasy books in background… which clues people into the imaginative world I’ve created… and hopefully they are familiar with… or will be… it’s a form of ‘branding’… anyway… making the text size larger would make it easier to read blog posts! Thanks much.

Yes, see below for the 3 ways to change fonts on wordpress.com blogs.
(1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the HTML editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/
(2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
(3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

The ‘editors’ thing isn’t working for me. I copied the ‘span’ code right form the page… the one that was times new roman… through to the writing… then the </span> – bit… Copied the first part before my post text… and the ‘off span’ at a pater point near the end. Didn’t work… seemed to disappear when I went back to it… the ‘off span’ code was gone… once it had <span>, </span> at the beginning? — I tried copying the code the changing the font size to 24 or 32… no affect.
So – once again I am doing something or not doing something… even though I think I’m following the directions precisely. Can you help? thanks. Just want to enlarge letters of a single post. Thanks.

Wait – may have figured it out! stuck this in there… font-family: Arial; font-size: large;”> and I think it worked… so will use that as a ‘template’… and retype the fontfam and size… so let me experiment later and if you don;t here from me… I’m good. Thanks… (feel free to add pointer)…
Look like I have to do it with each paragraph?
