Where to find FTP Credentials?

  I want to move my blog over to a self hosted wordpress blog. The new host asks what the FTP Credentials are: Host location or IP Address, FTP Username and FTP password.

  How do I find out what these are on my free wordpress site?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  There is no FTP access to WordPress.COM hosted blogs.

  What exactly are you trying to do?

  There is no upgrade you can purchase here at WordPress.COM that provides FTP access and the ability to install plugins and or any third party themes. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.

  I am transferring to a wordpress site through Go Daddy and it says to “migrate my existing wordpress site” I need to enter the FTP credentials.

  You will need to set up FTP credentials over at Godaddy. That’s a different thing from setting them up here, which is not possible.

  All you really need to do is go to the dashboard of your blog here, on the Tools page, and create an Export file. On the Godaddy site, once you have WordPress.org software installed, you go to the Tools page and click Import and you’re done.

  I too am having an issue and am new to this world. I have a blog under http://www.matthewellena.com which I have hosted by WordPress.com. I purchased a theme from envatomarket.com. How do I upload it to my site? I read I use an FTP Client but I have no idea what my username and password would be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  @matthewellena – WordPress.com say that they are not able to support uploading of custom WordPress themes on our service.

  did you read this thread that explains that you can not have FTP access here??

  get a refund for your theme – no third party themes are allowed – performance and security issues
