where to find 'page IDs' for wordpress-hosted personal domain blog?

I recently installed the pages widget and tried to exclude an existing page from the resulting pages list. I followed the directions to find the numerical ID for the page, but saw none using the 2 methods provided in the support docs. I then used the shortened title of the page (jose-fuster-ceramics), but the page title still displayed under the pages heading, even after refreshing the page. I then tried using the full title of the page (More of Jose Fuster’s ceramic creations) as the ID, but that didn’t work either. How do I find an ID that I can use to hide pages that I don’t want to emphasize in the sidebar widget? In fact, I’d rather such relatively insignificant pages not appear on the blog’s upper navigation bar either. I thought assigning the page ‘no parent’ might keep it from showing, but it didn’t.

    1) To find the ID number of a page, you go to Pages > All Pages: you hover over the page title and look at the progress/status bar of your browser; or hover over the page title, click Edit, look at the address bar of the browser.

    2) You can make the top menu display whatever you like if you create and activate a custom menu. Details here:
