Where’d the feed stats go?

  • Unknown's avatar

Just a few minutes ago the feed stats disappeared. What gives?

  • Unknown's avatar

Mine are gone too. They must be working on them…

  • Unknown's avatar

Do a search of the forums and you’ll find I think four threads on this right now. Saves time.

Feed stats are dead. Not coming back.

    Retiring Feed Stats

  • Unknown's avatar

    Just saw that. That sucks.

  • Unknown's avatar

Nope. The feature has been “retired.” In other words, gone.

  • Unknown's avatar

Try the Feedburner workaround. I’ve heard it gives you MORE stats than WordPress.com, although I’ve never used it. Do a search for Feedburner and you’ll find multiple threads.

  • Unknown's avatar

Actually, the Feedburner stats did used to give a pretty good accounting of feed stats, but they did a readjustment to it a little while ago, specifically regarding WP.com blogs, and that’s no longer the case. At least as far as I can tell with my blog. Maybe others are having a different experience with Feedburner. If so, I’d love to hear about it. *sniffle*

  • Unknown's avatar

Oh wow, this Really, REALLY sucks. That was the best part of blogging!!!! That was the ONLY way to tell if your readership was growing! (which publishers WANT TO KNOW) (Blog stats are very random… and only measure page hits, not readers)
To save matters, a wide-spread distribution of workaround is a must. (Help..raincoaster?!?) I know java-based plug-ins won’t work. What’s the URL? I’ll look too but it can be hard to find stuff in the labrynth that is WordPress…

    OMG, guys…

  • Unknown's avatar

As I said, do a search of the forums and you’ll find it.

Also, your assumption about interpreting feed readers is incorrect. Among the things I teach is how to grow your readership, and that includes measuring and interpreting your hits, both feed and browser, and you’re incorrect in your assumption. Way off, actually.

  • Unknown's avatar

Then tell me more. All of us, please. (cause that’s not very helpful. Actually.)

  • Unknown's avatar

I took raincoaster’s advice, and went circular. To rest of youse… don’t bother. Skip right to feedburner.com

I’m already subscribed to feedburner, so already have a feedburner feed. The problem is that WordPress has also “burned” its own feed for my blog (and I don’t know enough about these things to know if any other source has done so as well.) Therefore, according to feedburner, I now have a grand total of 2 subscribers, as feedburner only counts feedburner. Yesterday my WordPress feed stats counter was up to 45. What am I missing? How can feedburner replace wordprss feed stats if it won’t show me my other feeds?

  • Unknown's avatar

That’s the info you’d get from reading the forum threads.

  • Unknown's avatar

Actually, I only figured it out from searching and searching, and then finally finding something in a Feedburner forum,or perhaps it was an older announcement on the Feedburner blog. Really had to do some searching around when my Feedburner feed stats plummeted from the 100’s to 15 in one day!

  • Unknown's avatar

‘kay raincoaster, maybe you should take a break cause now you’re just being snotty.

I’ve already read all the stupid forum threads, thank you, and don’t expect to spend the rest of the night looking for more things that may or may not be there.. and I’ve also gone all through the feedburner stuff, too, (on feedburner.com itself, as there’s nothing helpful *I* can find on these threads) which I was already using BTW and which clearly won’t work so long as wordpress burns its own feed, and hardwires that feed into many of its themes, which feedburner apparently can’t read.

I think Dr. Mike’s suggestion of http://www.sitemeter.com may be the answer, being sure to use the wordpress option they offer as the regular version is java-script and not wordpress compatible. (see rainy? I just typed a helpful little comment there, plus a URL. Not hard at all. You might try it sometime!)

This just in, so check it out! Even WordPress moderators are deleting their accounts over this.

Well, look at it this way: WordPress.com has “I has Cheezburger” as their star blog, while Typepad has Seth Goddin, among others. Even Rome had to fall eventually…

  • Unknown's avatar

You think I’m being snotty? My, you live a sheltered life.

    And it’s “Godin.” He minds.

I don’t use the Feedburner workaround, so I’ve never bothered to memorize it. So I can’t go over it off the top of my head; I’d have to use the search forum feature. Better you than me.

But if you’re leaving anyway, I’m glad I didn’t bother wasting the time answering your question. I will have to remember not to do so in future as well.

  • Unknown's avatar

Like you’ve been “bothering” to help anyone anyway. If you can’t bother “wasting the time” to answer a question, then why are you wasting your time (and ours) telling everyone (repeatedly) to go look it up? Just stand aside and let someone else help, then. Please say hi to your good friend Seth for me, would ya? And remember: you just promised not to bother wasting the time to bother me anymore.

(How’s that… unshelteredly snotty enough for you? Or do you just want to take it outside :0)

  • Unknown's avatar

Look princess, I read what you wrote and frankly decided you’re too lazy to implement the solution if you’re too lazy to search for it in the first place. Door, ass, you know how it works.

The original poster has probably long since solved his problem, as you would have done if you’d concentrated on doing that and not having a hissy fit in multiple threads.

    Hello!
Everyone please look at your dashboard and note Matt’s post.
Feed stats are no more. They have been “pruned”. http://wordpress.com/blog/2007/06/13/retiring-feed-stats/

    @almostgotit
It’s obvious that you haven’t got “it” by a long shot yet.
But I’d be glad to deliver “it” to you any time, anywhere.
You sound like just another loose gate creaking in the wind that needs shutting.

What is that cheeseburger site about? I went there thee other day and it has pictures of cats.
