Add topic to favorites
Ok I uploaded a picture last nite as use for my Avatar and it is still not displayed. Am I missing a step?

i think it may take a while before it shows from your computer due to the cookie/cache factor, since i have no problems seeing it from my end. =) you could try clearing your cookies and cache, or just wait a bit longer.

The other thing to remember is that if this is the first avatar you have uploaded, and you have made comments before this, then the avatar will not show up on those posts. In other words, it isn’t retroactive.

I see your avatar on your comment on your “Chuck Norris” post. Try logging out of wordpress, clearing your browser cache and cookies and then logging back in. It may be a caching issue.

well if that doesn’t work than what’s the point of adding an avatar. It should work once you load it. So if you don’t upload one before hand you are screwed?

Maybe I can play with it some more.

Avatars take a little time to work through the system and to start showing up everywhere. The amount of time it takes depends on server load and a whole host of other things. Avatars are not retroactive and will not appear on comments made before you uploaded one.

Take note that you have forgotten to post a link to your blog so we cannot see it. What we do know is that we can see your avatar here in the forum and we know that avatar display is not retroactive. In other words, your avatar will not appear on comments that you made before you uploaded the avatar and it began displaying.

I’m new today and don’t see my avatar either. Is there a way to check to see if it’s uploaded but just hasn’t showed up yet?

We see it fine. In time it will propagate throughout the whole system.

Your avatar will not show up in posts, only in comments on yours and other wordpress.com blogs, as long as you are logged in. Any comments that you have made prior to uploading an avatar will not update to show your avatar – in other words, it’s not retroactive.

It will not appear on your posts, contrary to what it says on the Your Profile page. It only appears on comments, on other wordpress.com blogs and your own, provided you are logged in when you make the comments. It is NOT retroactive.
