Where's my blog post?

  • Unknown's avatar

My blog post disappeared after I pushed the “save draft” button. How do I recover all content? I’ve been typing for 3 hours.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You currently have one post in the “Trash” titled “New post coming soon! “Babysitting… N”. That post can be found here:

    https://unfilteredandfabulous.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=trash&post_type=post

Is that the post you’re referring to? If not, can you let me know the post title so I can investigate further?

No I’m referring to “confessions of a babysitter”. It’s blank.

    Hi there!

Typically, you can revive saved post data from the Post Revisions as explained here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/

However, currently, there are no revisions to go back to. It looks like no information was saved. Can you tell me a little bit about how you wrote this post? Were you connected to a working internet connection the entire time?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello, yes I was working under an independent password secured network with excellent connection the entire time. I typed my post and pushed the save button before previewing my content as usual. When the “save draft” button and the screen refreshed there was no content to preview.

Either way, it sounds like even though we can try to figure out the source of my problem, my issue won’t be resolved and my content is gone. Rather than crying over spilled milk ,I just would like to leave a friendly suggestion. It would be extremely helpful for the wordpress platform to have an automatic save feature once every 15 minutes. I don’t usually type posts on WordPress, and especially won’t now given the noted issue. Some people, however, will choose to draft a post by using your platform so an auto save would make your site more user friendly and trustworthy to say the very least, so just in case something awful happens like a computer crash or sudden loss of internet, all won’t be lost. Just a suggestion to help improve customer satisfaction rates. Sorry for the spelling/grammar. Using my iPhone but this post should be clear enough for review.

    Hi!

We actually do have an autosave feature as explained here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/autosave/

The feature saves a post automatically every two minutes when you are editing a post. In the case of a lost internet connection or something of that sort, users are still able to use browser restore to restore the content of their post.

I apologize that it didn’t seem to save your content as it should have. I’m currently trying to restore the post data from previous backups of your blog. I will let you know if I’m successful!

    Hi!

We were unable to restore any post data that was lost. I’m sorry your post data was lost! If this happens again, please let us know. In this case, we haven’t had any additional reports of post data disappearing so I’m not sure what the underlying cause may have been.
