Where's My Draft??
-
I saved a draft, and there is absolutely no link to retrieve it?? This is really upsetting because it was quite lengthy :(
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Same here! Fortunately only wrote a sentence to test it. No trace of draft now. Angry enough, would have been spitting feathers if I had written a whole page.
If I can’t find drafts and copy and paste from apple pages I will have to find another site.
Also themes look brilliant but they don’t look the same on the site. It is all very confusing. Not as easy as it pretends to be. -
At least you were smarter than I was. It honestly never occurred to me that they would offer the option to save a draft, and not have a viable means of retrieving it. I’m with you on this one. If this isn’t able to be resolved, then it’s better that I get out before it gets too involved :/
-
I found my draft. Press “all blog posts” and a list of everything you have done comes up.
I have worked hard on it all day and managed to find out how to add photos, save blog pages, and publish. I managed to crop a photo but somehow a good quality photo ended up black when published. It is hard work and defo not as easy as it is supposed to be. Now trying to change colours of the theme I have chosen. The themes look amazing but not as exciting when on my own blog. -
YOU are FANTASTIC!!! I’ll try this!! Thank you SO MUCH!!
(….you should stay tuned in case I have other questions, perhaps WordPress can add you to their payroll :) ) -
hahahahah payroll jeez!!its easy don’t expecting everything on a plate try everything and have fun blogging…:)

re: locating drafts and post and page revisions
The classic editor retains 25 auto-saved post revisions but the new Beep Beep Boop editor does not. The post revision management system is not built into the new Beep Beep Boop editor, so saving the draft saves only the most recent version, but not previous versions.
In the new Beep Beep Boop editor the most recent version is saved only on your browser, and is not auto-saved to the servers for your blog unless you click the save link once.
If you are using the new Beep Beep Boop editor please read:

/page/32?replies=942#post-2338964re: recovering a lost post or page
Please go to https://wordpress.com/post with the same browser and see if it offers to restore a post. If a restore button appears, that means a local copy was saved in your browser and you may be able to recover it.If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Pages > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash
To locate draft POSTS Dashboard > Posts > All Post > Drafts
https://allthingsfaerie.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=postTo locate draft PAGES Dashboard > Pages> All Pages > Drafts
https://allthingsfaerie.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=page(If you are referring to a Page then see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-revisions/)
If you cannot restore from your browser, or locate a revision, or restore from Trash then the content has been lost and cannot be recovered.
I recommend:
1. Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > Add New and pages at Dashboard > Pages > Add New
If you have cookies enabled on your browser your preference will be saved unless or until your clear your cookies, and it will take you to the classic editor automatically every time you create a new post via the drop-down menu in the black admin bar or edit a post via the edit button on the blog itself. You cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/
2. Immediately after creating a post and entering a title click the save draft link. Thereafter, “click save draft” frequently.
3. Always allow pages to fully load before clicking any other links.
4. Never leave a post or page open for content creation or editing and walk away from it, or open another tab in the same blog and work on something else while it is still open. Save it properly and return to edit it later.
5. Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

re: the front page error message found on every new .wordpress.com blog
Nothing Found
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help. There is nothing wrong with your site. By default the front page of the blog is the only page that will display all published posts on it. As soon as you publish a post not a page the front page error message and searchbox that appears on every new WordPress.COM blog will be gone. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
I recommend using the step by step tutorial linked to the bottom of your Admin page https://learn.wordpress.com
See also the “Video Quick Start” tutorial http://en.support.wordpress.com/video-quick-start/
The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also linked to on the bottom of your Admin page.
re: website or blog
A blog is a website.A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.
What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds, and as others do not backlink to pages, it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.
Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based – no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/
Here’s a link to my step by step post too http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/07/25/create-a-wordpress-website-step-by-step/
re: changing themes
Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.
After you change any theme all you need to do is use the customizer for your menus and widgets, etc. https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/

Hmmm. It’s still not coming up, so I finally just decided to completely start over. I was on the blank page, and a ‘pop up’ revealed that I have a blog saved to Drafts and it asked if I wanted to retrieve it. Of course I do, so I tried to retrieve it and it still hasn’t come back. Talk about frustrating. Now this sight is just being a jerk, and dangling the carrot. Now I’m just getting pissed.

Jenniepants Hi, Have you found ‘dashboard’ yet? It sometimes appears when you press ‘My Site’. If you can get on to it there should be an item called ‘Activity’. This is another place which lists all your blogs and drafts. Good luck Post if you retrieve it, I can celebrate with you.
Thistimethisspace I have been changing between themes and as you say everything fits snugly and nothing is lost. I will have a go at menus and widgets (whatever they are), thank you. -
