Where’s my feed gone?!
-
Last month I subscribed to my own RSS feed just to see what it’s like and I remember clicking on some links on the sidebar. Since then my feed is empty! Same for my comments feed. I don’t know what I did that day but it seems I tampered with the settings without realizing it… but even so, can anybody tell m what I have to do for my feed to show up again properly?
Thank you in advance

Technically speaking, I don’t think you can “tamper” with the RSS Post Feed and Comment Feed.
A link to your wordpress.COM blog would assist so we can see what’s going on.

If this is the blog you are talking about, http://calliopeiris.wordpress.com/ , then both feeds (from wordpress.com) seem to be working fine. I clicked on the links in your sidebar and was able to view both without a problem.
The problem might be with the feed service you are using.

First of all, thank you both for the replies.
Secondly, yes, thesacredpath, that is the blog I ‘m talking about. But when I click on the RSS links on the sidebar these days, I get empty pages—-> feed://calliopeiris.wordpress.com/feed
I ‘m not using any feed service, I just clicked on said links. They used to display all posts now they don’t. *confused*

Go to
settings -- readinghttp://calliopeiris.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php
then you can override the amount of articles shown in RSS — if this might be your case?
-
@calliopeiris, your feeds are there, I just looked at both with Firefox. What browser are you using to look at them?
@babaku-number of Posts/articles shouldn’t matter to the feed, unless it’s set to “0” and even then when you save it will be reset to “1” by default.

I ‘m using Safari- always have.
@babaku
As justjennifer said, it’s nothing to do with that. For some reason today, I can see a private post in the feed. It’s my latest one and I can only see it when I ‘m logged in(since it’s private) but I still don’t understand where the rest’s gone. I ‘ll just ask a friend who uses Safari to tell me if she can see my feed properly. If yes, then it’s all too weird.

Oh. Safari doesn’t seem to play well with wordpress.com
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/20/im-using-safari-and-i-have-problems/ even though the date of that FAQ is rather old already, there have been comments even recently about it.

I’ve been using Safari 3 since beta here at wordpress.com, and I can say that I’m incredibly pleased with it. I have yet to find any incompatibilities.
Safari 2 on the other hand has issues. If you are using Safari 2, and you can upgrade to Safari 3 (requires 10.4.11 or later) then do so. You will be quite pleased.
I’ve also switched to Safari 3 on my XP machine and again have been very pleased. It is soooo much faster than IE or FF it isn’t funny.

Eh, just additional information really, and there is no way you would have known if you weren’t a Safari fan, which I am. I must admit though that I really like all the addons that are available for Firefox, and I will most likely always have both of them on my machine. I don’t think I could live without the Firebug, Aardvark and Web Developer addons. Oh! and don’t forget adblock plus. What a wonderful thing it is!!

Oh, great, I can see my little q has inspired a spirited discussion about my favorite browser. Cool. ;-)
@sacredpath I just checked, I have Safari 3. By the way, those of you who checked my feed and reported it shows up just fine, could you please tell me which post shows right at the top? I mean, just the title.
Thanks again.

Thanks, justjennifer!
For some reason when I clicked yesterday I could see a private post of mine even though I was not logged in.
*even more confused but hey, no one ever said the bloggosphere was was gonna be a straightforward affair*
-
If the post was published briefly as a regular post (not private) and you then changed it to private, it may actually show up in the feed for a little bit before it disappears.

My feed was displaying on my other website on the homepage but it has suddenly disappeared I need to get it back on there and I’m not sure how. I contacted my other website owners and the only solution they had was for me to get my html code…how do I do that?

I need either my feed info or my html code..thank you

Better contact support. I checked your feed, and it is not working. Do you have a page titled, “feed”? If you do, that may be causing some problems. Try renaming it and also rename the permalink.
-
So, you want your feed to display on your non-wordpress.com site like it displays in your blog’s sidebar? I can see it fine here http://neglectedsound.wordpress.com/feed/
Oh and now it’s displaying on your other site. Problem solved?
