Where's the CSS? I'd like more customization.

  Am I missing something or do I need another service package or something?

  I just purchased a blog hosted at wordpress.com. I’ve used wordpress hosted at other ISPs, before, and I’ve always been able to edit the CSS, as well as make changes to the theme, like changing the number of columns, etc. I don’t seem to have this ability with this site hosted at wordpress.com.

  Yes, I can buy the customization upgrade for $30 a year, but at that price I might as well move the site.

  I want to have full customization control of the site. Am I missing something in the dashboard? If not, what are my options, please?

  To edit the CSS here at wordpress.COM, you have to purchase the Custom Design upgrade.

  Editing of the underlying theme PHP script files cannot be done here since this is a multi-user platform which means we all share the same underlying files. Any edit by one person would change it for everyone using that theme.

  If the changes you want to make can be made with CSS, then you can get the Custom Design upgrade, but if you want to add functionality or hack the theme files, or add plugins, then you will have to self-host a blog at a third-party hosting service.

  sigh. that’s what I was afraid of. I guess i’ve wasted money getting my site registered, here.

  No, you have not wasted that money. The domain name can be pointed at any host of your choosing in the domain management section, and if it has been less than 30 days since you bought the domain mapping, you can get a refund on that.

  Actually, I see that your domain name is registered outside of wordpress.COM, so all you will have to do is point it at your new web host. Again though if less than 30 days, you can get a refund on the domain mapping.

  Gaaa, I’m sorry I got confused on the domain name. As I said at first then, your domain name you bought here can be pointed to any web host that you choose, so that $5 for the domain name registration is not wasted, and the domain mapping can be refunded to you if it has been less than 30 days.
