whether to use wordpress.com or wordpress.org
-
transferring from a wordress.com site to a wordpress.org site. I already have a wordpress.com site. my domain is redirected from godaddy to wordpress.com. my question is now that i’m actually in there playing around, I’m wondering if i should have gotten an wordpress.org account instead so i have more ways to manipulate my site. some things i need would be a log in page where every individual would receive a password to log into a specific page. i also want to manipulate how my site looks more and i can’t seem to figure it out or even how to access my css files to change things. also, in wordpress.org can you manipulation html?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
some things i need would be a log in page where every individual would receive a password to log into a specific page.
While it is not possible to create that kind of login “gateway” on WordPress.com, it is possible to password protect certain posts and pages. That would allow you to require a user to enter a password to proceed to viewing your content.

You also have the option to set your entire site to “private” which means that the site would no longer be publicly on the internet. You could then invite users to your site, and only those users would have access, using their WordPress.com credentials.

i also want to manipulate how my site looks more and i can’t seem to figure it out or even how to access my css files to change things
To do this, all you need to do is purchase the custom design upgrade, which allows you to modify your CSS, as well as use custom fonts and customize colors.
You can purchase this upgrade by going to the store tab in your site dashboard or learn more about it here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
also, in wordpress.org can you manipulation html?
You can add HTML into your pages and or posts, but it is not possible to modify the source code that make up your blog. For that you will want to use a self-hosted (or “.org”) WordPress site.
Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
