Which email is used while submitting sitemaps to search engines

I have different emails for :
    1) ‘Account profile’ – this is a separate gmail account I created to get site updates directly under that.

    2) and ‘domain owner contact info’ – this has my personal email.

Now I want to submit my site to google console search. But first I need to log in to google.
Should I log into google using the gmail account in (1) or (2) above ?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi!

This very much depends on which email address you prefer to use, to manage your site. WordPress.com does not have any particular requirement concerning which email address to use for Google Search Console, because it is a separate service to WordPress.com – if you prefer your site management to go to (1), then it’s worth using that address!

In case of need, we have the general start-up guide for adding your WordPress.com site to Google Search Console here:

@staff-95percentghost Thank you! Also, while inputting my domain for the ‘DNS verification option’ should I use sustainthegreen.in (my domain) or sustainthegreenin.wordpress.com (since I have a free plan so my domain uses wordpress.com name servers)?

  • Hi there,

We are not expert in Google Search Console but it sounds like you are trying to verify your site with Google using DNS Records, yes?

If so we have a guide here you can use: https://wordpress.com/support/site-verification-services/#verifying-your-domain-with-google-using-dns-records

I’m not sure what step you are at based on what you have said, but is it your intent to use sustainthegreen.in as the address of your site? If so that is what I would use in filling out the info Google needs.

Also before you verify your domain you will want to set sustainthegreen.in as your “primary address” since currently your site is displaying at sustainthegreen.wordpress.com. To do that you will need one of our upgrade plans and for this purpose. I recommend the Personal plan, which is our lowest cost option and will allow you to set a custom site address as well as turn off the ads we show on free sites to help cover our costs.

Please note that if you choose the yearly (not monthly) option it comes with a free domain. Since you already have one, if you update to the yearly option let us know and we can refund the cost of the domain.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

  • Hi again,

I also wanted to add that since you are getting your site set up still, and do not have it at your sustainthegreen.in quite yet, it may be a little too early to register your site with Google.

Typically we recommend that you get the site set up all the way so it’s exactly as you want it to appear to the public — including the custom address —and then submit to Google. If you do it now, they will index the partial content of your site (and not the final content) and you may not want that showing up in search results quite yet.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

@staff-totoro That makes sense. I will consider postponing the registration part. Thanks for your suggestion, it helps :)
