Which free gallery plugins meets the following requirements?
-
I need a gallery plugin that does the following for free:
- has an easy and intuitive way to organize 4000 photos into categories -> subcategories -> subcategories -> etc. -> galleries kind of structure
- autogenerates pages based on (sub)category/gallery titles, e.g. pages starting from
/galleryand ending at/gallery/food/fruits/bananas– with some reasonably modern styling - works well with standard WordPress search or some search plugin, e.g. by typing “banana” I’d expect both the gallery and all photos from that gallery to appear as results
- has Gutenberg block for statically displaying gallery images, preferably with some setting for limit, order etc.
Optionally:
- has Gutenberg slider kind of block that can pull chosen/random images
- can be integrated with WooCommerce
Any recommendations?

Hi @destroy666x
At this time, we aren’t able to recommend a specific plugin, but you’re very welcome to explore available options through your WordPress.com dashboard or the plugin directory. You can learn how to install and manage plugins here:
https://wordpress.com/support/plugins/install-a-plugin/If your goal is to organize a large collection of images with nested categories, one approach available on WordPress.com is to create category pages and manually add galleries within each section using the Gallery Block. This provides a flexible way to group images and control how they’re displayed. You can learn more about setting up a gallery using this guide:
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/gallery-block/create-a-gallery/This approach allows you to create your own structure, such as
/gallery/food/fruits/bananas, and still take advantage of WordPress.com’s built-in search and block options: https://wordpress.com/support/posts/categories/
Let me know if you have other questions.
