Which is the best solution: Self hosted or "Pro" ?
-
Hi
I’m confused as to which version would give me the greatest amount of freedom in terms of adding iFrames, JavaScript, etc.
By Self Hosted I mean buying space on Blue Host, Hostgator, etc., and setting up WordPress from there.
By Pro I mean, upgrading the free version to “Value Bundle” (99 USD)
Thanks

Buying the Bundle will still not allow you to use iFrames or Javascript as it is simply not allowed on WordPress.com, so you would probably do best to self-host on WordPress.org software.

and, should you decide to stay on WordPress.com, read this:

Also, no upgrade here frees you from WP’s rules and TOS, at least until you get to the Enterprise level at $500/mo where you get some leeway.
Self hosted however puts all the burden of site maintenance on you.

Thank you all for your answers.
One final doubt; is the so called “one-click” installation version on recommended hosting companies (e.g Blue Host, Hostgator, etc) the “full freedom” version?
E.g. I can do what intend to do, as per my post above, or do I have to download Word Press from wordpress.org and upload it to the host in question to be completely “free to do what I want, any old time ?” :)
Thanks again

I recommend not trying to over-think this. Some hosts provide a 1 click wordpress.org install and some don’t. Some insist that manual install is better and some don’t. The software is the same so why quibble. I say hire a web host and then make the choice. http://wordpress.org/hosting/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.org, click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the correct support forums for that software.

That would be “self hosting” and not “self hoisting” of course.
Are you or are you not speaking from your own personal experience? -
I self-hoisted a self-hosted version. (manual upload of files).
I have both types running, some here also.

I had to try it to see what all the fuss was about and explore the differences first hand.
I figure if I could do it, anybody could.
Both versions clearly have their respective pros and cons.
