which one to choose maping or transferring my site

I currently have my websites hosted at 1&1 and I have built them with iWeb but need to update so I am looking for the easiest to create a similar format as iWeb and not sure what it would cost me to transfer to wp.com and if I don’t how much is it.

  • Hi there,

iWeb doesn’t offer an export file that’s compatible with WordPress. It does have an RSS feed that can be imported, but we don’t have an RSS feed importer on WordPress.com, so you’d need to use the self-hosted version of WordPress for that instead, or else our Business Plan which will allow you to install an RSS import plugin. You can see a tutorial on how to move your content here:

How To: Import your iWeb Blog to WordPress

If you want to go the self-hosted route, the simplest option would be to speak to 1&1 to get WordPress installed directly on their servers. In that case you’ll be using the open source version of WordPress made on WordPress.org, with support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Or if you’d prefer to move to us, our Business Plan is $300 a year, and comes with live chat support.

Whether you map or transfer your domain to us is really up to you, depending on whether you’d prefer to pay us for both your domain and site, or if you’d prefer to continue paying 1&1 separately for the domain.

Let me know if you have any more questions about this.
