Which Plan should I go?
-
I’m planning to create a multilanguage site with custom domain name which only used to display my product information. Which plan is more suitable for me?
-
Howdy,
It depends on a lot of other factors as well. Like how much storage space would you need? What extent of customizability will you require? If it’s basic, then I’d suggest you go with “Personal Plan”. Just to clear it up, Basic Customization means “Customize your selected theme template with pre-set color schemes, background designs, and font styles.”
You can view all the plans here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Also, since you want to setup a Multilingual site, this guide will come handy: https://en.support.wordpress.com/set-up-a-multilingual-blog/Thanks :)

Thanks for your prompt reply. I would like to ask is it able to install multilingual plugin if I only purchase basic plan?

Hey there,
WPML is a WordPress Multilingual Plugin for self-hosted WordPress.ORG software installs only, and you are confusing wordpress.COM hosted blogs with WordPress.ORG software installs.
There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
The only way to translate WordPress.com blogs is by following the guide I mentioned before. I think you’re better off with the self-hosted version of WordPress in your case (WordPress.org). Here’s how you get started with WordPress.org: https://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress
Also, the ability to install third party plugins on WordPress.com hosted site is only available in the “Business” plan. But for plugins which require you to have FTP access, like WPML, it’s of no use as I mentioned before, there is no FTP access available.
I hope it clears your doubts, let me know if you need help with anything else :)

Hi wind409
You would be able to install your custom plugin with the Business plan. So you can install any multi lingual plugin as you would do with self-hosted WordPress site with this plan.

Let me know if you have any further questions.Regards,

Hey there,
Just adding to @Pankajkumr’s point again, that works only for the plugins which don’t require you to have FTP access. Plugins like WPML do and hence the Business Plan would be of no help :)
