Which themes are tag-aware?
-
I haven’t seen a list, and a post here might help. By tag-aware, I mean that if you tag a post, the tag(s) will be displayed along with the category and similar post metadata.
Currently tag-aware: Simpla, Garland.
Currently not: Sandbox. I don’t think that Sandbox is alone in this, since I seem to remember seeing mention in the forums of other themes yet to achieve tag-awareness.
All the other themes come in the “don’t know” category. Perhaps you can reduce the size of that category, based on your experience?
By the way, I assume, but have not checked, that: if a theme is tag-unaware and widget-ready, Tag Cloud will be among the available widgets. -

Unsleepable doesnt display tags.
-I just checked if the tag cloud widget is working on Unsleepable and tagged a few posts-
but it’s only displaying the first post’s tags. -

Andreas 04 is tag enabled.
Andreas 09 is tag enabled.
Banana Smoothie is not tag enabled in the sense that tags do not display on posts although you can enter them.
Benevolence is not tag enabled in the sense that tags do not display on posts although you can enter them.
Blix is not tag enabled in the sense that tags do not display on posts although you can enter them. -
Chaotic Soul is not tag enabled in the sense that tags do not display on posts although you can enter them.
Connections is not tag enabled in the sense that tags do not display on posts although you can enter them.
Contempt is tag enabled.
Daydream is not tag enabled in the sense that tags do not display on posts although you can enter them. -
@tt, you’ve been busy.
From the above, it looks as though even if the theme you’re using doesn’t currently know about tags: (1) you will still be able to enter tags when you post; (2) you will still be able to use the Tag Cloud widget.
@visions, some day your (other) tags will come. At least, mine did. -

The tags are functionally great; but they make a mess of the individual blog entries when they appear, like so much unnecessary clutter, under the categories.<br>
<br>
Is there any reason that someone reading our blogs would need to see these? Wouldn’t they be better as unseen elements of the post?<br>
<br>
How can we make these disappear from the face of the blog while still operating in the background? I use K2-lite.<br>

raincoaster’s solution seems a temporary fix if “tag-awareness” is seen as a desirable thing and the themes will ultimately be altered to reveal this information.
To all the developers out there: I think metadata like tags should remain hidden. Please don’t indulge in the more-is-better mentality that fosters “tag-awareness.” Improved functionality with clean aesthetics can be had by simply remaining tag-unaware.

To follow up on a couple of Judy’s recent contributions to this thread:
– if you’re using Sandbox with the CSS upgrade, you can style the tag stuff at the end of the post separately from other post metadata. Looking at page source from one of my test blogs, I see: span class=”tag-links”
– so any style you apply to tag-links (including display:none) will apply only to the tags, and not to stuff like post author.
– I don’t know if it’s possible to style the tags separately in any other theme.
