Which thumbnail used on Media Library

Hi guys,
I need to delete a lot of thumbnails from my server. however, i’d like to keep the one/s used as thumbnails for my media library. i tried deleting some files but i can’t seem to get it right.
in media i selected 100×100 to be the thumbnail size. i kept that file, plus i opened the thumbnail file in a new window – in my case, 100×53 -, and the thumbnail still disappears. any ideas?

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.
