Which video hosting site should I use for my blog?

My brother and I have been running our blog, The Twin Factor for going on 5 years now, though we’ve only been with WordPress since January of this year (we imported our blog from Blogger).

No major complaints so far, but I do have a question that hopefully savvy and longtime WordPress users can answer: lately we’ve been thinking about altering our blog’s style and presentation; specifically, we’re thinking about producing our own videos and uploading them to the site, thus shifting to a more visual form of presentation and cutting down on the actual text and thereby diminishing the bloggish look and feel in favor of the look and feel of a more conventional website. I know WordPress prefers that bloggers use a video hosting site as opposed to just uploading your videos directly from your computer.

This brings me to my question: which site is best for such an endeavor? I know YouTube will likely bring us more traffic, but my concern with them is that they can be sticklers when it comes to clips and copyrighted material. I’m considering using Dailymotion as a possible backup choice and I’ve been hearing things about other services, but I’m not sure who to go with.

To any WordPress bloggers who incorporate videos onto their sites, do you have any advice on which hosting we should try? Any good advice would be much appreciated.

Good on them for that because blogs hosted here with reported copyright violations are suspended.

The video embeds that WordPress.com supports for all of our blogs – no upgrade required are found here.

    Video shortcodes are here http://en.support.wordpress.com/shortcodes/#video

The VideoPress upgrade include in the Premium upgrade bundle allows you to upload videos from your computer for hosting and playback directly within your blog (or on another site you can designate).

However, if you upload them to youtube or another supported video source site (sorry but I don’t have any other suggestions), then you do not need the upgrade.

Thanks for the response. Based on what I’m seeing and reading, it looks like my best choice at this stage is DailyMotion. YouTube is a possibility, but I’ve heard horror stories about them, and I sure don’t want my blog or channel to get suspended. Blip is shutting down, so that’s no longer an option. The Premium upgrade may be a viable option somewhere down the line, but we’re just starting out; that’s a little rich for my blood right now.
