Which video software? Video size queries
-
Hi,
I’m a complete beginning to uploading video onto my blog and wondered if someone could give me a hand.
Firstly, I’m looking at which software to use – either video press or vimeo? Any recommendations?
When I look into video press, its charging me $99 as part of a bundle (including 10GB space, custom design as well as video press). Any way I can just buy video press? Or should I be looking at vimeo?
In terms of what I want to use videos for, I guess I’m looking to upload longer, more professional videos in the long run (so if I go for something like vimeo I’d be looking at vimeo+).
And here’s my question about actually filming stuff with my camera. I’ve just shot a video and its 1.18GB, about 3 minutes 30 seconds long. Looking at my camera settings I filmed it with dimensions of 1920 × 1080. Is that too big? Is there a way to compress video footage? I see some videos are like 7-8 minutes long. Would it be right in assuming these are filmed at lower dimensions? It just seems that if for example, I have a 3 min vid at 1.18GB, to reach my maximum of 5GB per week, I don’t have much more to play with. Just wondering if there’s a way of compressing these MOV files on my macbook.
Apologies if this is all boring beginners stuff!
