The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I’m not sure I understand what you want to do. Can you please provide more details, and I’d be happy to help.

kokkieh, I apologise for the confusion I sent to you.
This is no longer an important issue, but I would appreciate your help on one thing.
As my original entry stated I was faced with an unusual spelling of my domain name, “insearchofthecreatordotcom”. I did not spell it that way but it appeared out of no where and is causing me some concern. If it generated by your system to make an alternate URL for WordPress I do not see the purpose because I have arranged for the mapping of my domain “insearchofthecreator.com”. Can the alternative be abolished?
    Thanks for the help. Bob

  • Hi, Bob

Every site on WordPress.com must have a free address. Without it the site cannot exist, as that’s the address where your site’s files are hosted in our system. The custom domain is where people will go to visit your site and what they will see in their browsers, but the free address is where your site lives.

If, when signing up, you only type in a custom domain without first choosing a free address, our system automatically creates the free address based on the domain you entered, leading to the “dotcom” in the URL. And while visitors will never see this URL, you can change it if you prefer.

To do that go to My Site ->Domains, click on the arrow next to the free address, and click the Edit link.

Please let me know if you need any more help with this.
