White flash between page loads – is this normal in WordPress?

  Hi everyone,

  I’m noticing a behavior on my WordPress site and wanted to check if this is normal or a known limitation.

  Issue:
  When navigating between pages, there is a brief flash of a blank (white) screen before the next page loads. It’s very quick, but noticeable, and makes the transition feel less smooth.

  What I’m seeing:

  • Click a link to another page
  • A blank/white screen appears momentarily
  • Then the new page loads normally

  I’ve attached screenshots showing the sequence.

  Question:
  Is this expected behavior with WordPress page navigation, or should transitions typically appear seamless without a visible blank screen?

  We can’t help as that site isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform. I can’t reproduce the white flash you are seeing. You could try to get help at the wordpress.org website.
